Fiebing's Tan Kote
Fiebing's Tan Kote is a resin-based, flexible top finish used by leathercrafters to provide a soft, mellow satin sheen and light protection against dirt. It is ideal for saddlery and belts because, unlike acrylics, it allows leather to breathe and can be reapplied after oiling.
Tan Kote is frequently applied to saddles, belts, and small leather accessories to give them a natural finish. It can also act as a resist (barrier coat) before applying Fiebing's Antique Finish to regulate absorption.
Apply Fiebing's Tan Kote to clean, dry leather using a soft cloth or sheep wool dauber in circular and back-and-forth motions to ensure even coverage, especially in carved areas. Apply one or two thin coats, allowing it to dry thoroughly between coats, and buff with a soft cloth for a mellow sheen.
