The Round Head Leather Maul is a specialised, high-density nylon crafting mallet designed for leatherworking tasks such as stamping, carving and punching. It is designed with a durable, tapered, or cylindrical nylon head and a smooth wooden handle, intended to provide consistent, quiet, and precise strikes without damaging leather tools or leaving marks.
The maul is equipped with a polished wood handle designed for a comfortable, secure grip, aiming to reduce hand fatigue during extended use.
This compact leather maul measures 21 cm length, 5 cm head diameter, 7 cm head length, and weighs 460g/16oz.
A leather maul is used in leatherwork to provide consistent, balanced strikes for stamping, tooling and punching, reducing wrist fatigue compared to mallets. The rounded, synthetic head prevents tool deflection, allows for an off-centre hit, and protects tools from damage, making it essential for detailed carving and repetitive, precise work.
