Silver Glove Snaps - 10 mm

Silver glove snaps with a 10 mm diameter head and nickel plated finish. These quality popper snaps are great for a wide range of projects such as bracelets, key cases and purses. Each pack contains a set of 10 snaps.

These 10 mm head diameter small glove snaps are recommended for use leather with a maximum thickness of 1.5 mm.

We recommend setting the glove snaps with the snap setter tool kits, such as the four piece kit or six piece snap setter kit.

What is a Glove Snap?

Glove snaps are small, lightweight metal fasteners designed for delicate leather items, clothing, and accessories like wallets or journals.

They feature a low-force, easy-open mechanism with a 4-part construction - the female cap & post, female socket, male cap & post, and the male stud - making them ideal for frequently accessed items requiring a refined, low-profile finish.

How Do I Size a Glove Snap?

The post of the snap should protrude slightly beyond the leather surface, ideally at least 1 mm, to allow it to be set properly.

The 10 mm head diameter glove snaps are recommended for use with soft, thin leather. As the post on the 10 mm snaps measures 2.8 mm, they work with a maximum leather thickness of 1.8 mm.

What Tools Do I Need?

To set glove snaps in leather you will need a specialist tool set, including an anvil and two different types of setting tool.

For smaller glove snaps (10 mm diameter and under) you can use our 4 piece snap setter kit. To set both smaller and larger snaps you will need the 6 piece snap setter kit.

Step By Step - How to Set a Glove Snap in Leather

    Mark the spot where you want the snap on the leather using a scratch awl.

    Make a hole through the leather on the mark using a rotary or drive punch tool. The hole should be the same size as the post diameter.

    Insert the female snap post by pushing it through the hole from the skin side.

  • 4

    Place the cap of the female snap part into the setting anvil, making sure it is sitting snugly in the corresponding sized concave space.

    Place the female socket over the post ensuring it is sitting with the post in the centre.

    Place the setting tool (with the male end) onto the female post and hammer using firm (but not heavy) pressure to set.

    Insert the male post into the second leather hole and place on the flat back of the anvil.

    Place the male socket over the post, pushing down firmly into place.

    Place the setting tool (with the concave end) onto the male post in an upright position and hammer into place using firm (but not heavy) pressure.

    Test the snap by opening and closing it a few times.

    Check the attachment to make sure it is tight and doesn't pull away from the leather.
